Jonah is 11 months old today. I still can't believe it has almost been a year since he was born. I think we're just past the point of feeling like he's on loan. We know that we are so blessed to have a healthy and incredibly good natured baby. So since your baby book still sits completely empty, here are a few things about you this month.
- You weigh 19 pounds 5 ounces. You're mostly wearing 12 month clothes but also some 9 month. You're starting to morph from a chubby baby to a lanky toddler right in front of us. Although you can't tell it from your cheeks! You have 8 teeth.
- You are a very good sleeper. You go to bed between 7 and 8 pm and wake up around 7 am on most days. You take a morning nap around 10 am until noon and then another nap from 3 pm to 5 pm. I lay you down in your crib and your thumb immediately goes in your mouth, you grab your lovie and wait for me to turn on your seahorse. Then you're out like a light. You WON'T sleep in mommy and daddy's bed anymore. Daddy gets you from your room when you wake up and brings you to me to feed. I try to get you to go back to sleep for a little while but you want to crawl around, poke daddy in the eyes, dive off the bed to get the dogs, and pull at the curtains to look out the window. And your new favorite thing is to throw yourself back into the pillows and blankets, sit up, and do it again.
- Caleb is your best friend. As soon as you wake up you look around until you find him and then you smile. You squeal when you see him across the room but hate when his licking gets out of hand (which is most of the time). If you are already mad his kisses make you more upset and you try to push him away. He is still on the fence about you though. He likes to kiss you, sit under your highchair, steal your toys, and is concerned when you're crying but he growls at you when you go toward him. You don't understand that he goes into his kennel to hide and not for you to follow him. You and Jo have not really bonded. She is much more tolerant of you than Caleb and will let you "pet" her. She is the biggest cheerio thief though. She takes directly from your hand. When you're older and are able to give her attention she'll love you.
- You're eating almost everything by yourself. On bath nights we let you attempt to eat your yogurt with a spoon. You prefer to hold the spoon and use your hands. I think your favorite meal is turkey meatballs. I put some spinach and carrots in them and you gobble them up. You are starting to not want to eat green beans and don't care for asparagus. I caught you pushing broccoli off your tray to the dogs. You like all fruit. I think if we would let you eat cheerios for every meal you would. Grandpa Plunk would say you get that from him.
- You love anything to do with water. From the pool, beach, bathtub to the dogs' water bowl, you want to jump right in. You even perk up and come to check it out when I turn on the faucet. You like to sit on my lap and look at books. You prefer some books over others and if I try to read one and you want another you'll crawl away and get the one you want and bring it to me. You spend more time standing than crawling and love to push around your walker or anything else that you can move. You are starting to stand on your own for a few seconds before you fall. You're also working on throwing. Your daddy is impressed that you actually go through the motion. Now you just have to work on letting go. The two of you roll the ball back and forth and build block towers together. He is very busy but whenever he's home he gives you your bath and plays with you.
You bring us so much joy and we can't imagine our lives without you. We love you, Jonah!

Thanks for the great advice - I am definitely trying to be prepared to go anywhere on the list - which is why I want to have such and active part in the process (he won't care where we live because he'll be in the hospital, but I am the one who will really have to live there)! We currently live in IL and like you we really want to stay in the midwest but are applying all over the country to increase his chances for matching! Thanks again for the advice!
Your son Jonah is absolutely precious!
