The house inspection was today and it took 2 1/2 hours. We'll probably be hearing something in the next couple of days. We cleaned out and packed the hall closet. I sorted Jonah's clothes and tomorrow I'll go get more tubs for his 6 month and some 9 month clothes. We're not bringing any little baby stuff to Seattle. We'll just have to make a road trip if we have another in the next 5 years. Enjoy the video of Jonah. I know I am a little biased but isn't he just the cutest thing ever? We just couldn't ask for a more perfect baby. He is so happy and laid back. His crying is always for a purpose and short lived. Matt said that with Jonah's good looks if he had his talent (for what I don't know) that he was going to Hollywood.

Jonah playing with one of the lovely little ladies, Olivia, at the baby shower

SOLD!!! We signed papers on Monday afternoon and we officially close on June 1st. The buyer wanted an inspection which will take place tomorrow. I'm anxious for it to be done and over with. We don't expect there to be problems but it there might be something we don't know about. The inspection is at 8 am! So Matt, Jonah, the dogs, and I will be vacating the house for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I have no idea what we'll do for that long. I submitted my last assignment for the semester and take my final next week. One more semester down and a little bit closer to being done. I loved this class because it was the only one with any neonatal content. Jonah and I attended a baby shower for 6 of the girls at work. They're having 5 boys and 1 girl. It was so much fun and Jonah was an angel as usual. I'm sad that I probably won't see any of the babies though.
We're still looking for a place to live. It is so frustrating to think we've found a place that advertises that they allow dogs and then we call and they don't. We're just looking for something short term until we get to know the area and decide whether we're going to buy and continue to rent. The dogs came home today and have just been lazying around. Jonah missed his Caleb. The house seemed a little empty without them but it was less work for me. Matt played paintball today in his white coat and has a few bruises.

We had a great weekend full of happy events. First, we went to Megan's pinning ceremony. We're so proud of her. UIC CON is not a walk in the park. She is going to be a great nurse because she's not only compassionate but she is smart too. I can't believe my own pinning was only 4 years ago. So much has happened, both personally and professionally, in the last 4 years.
Our second happy event was a call from the real estate agent with an offer on the house! It is quite a low offer but we'll try to negotiate. We'll keep you informed.
And last but not least was Arun & Rathi's wedding. It was BEAUTIFUL! I was very jealous of the gorgeous saris the women were wearing. Jonah was a doll and there wasn't a shortage of women who held him so we could eat. The food was only rivaled by the company.
I had to work today but didn't work too hard. I was charge nurse so I didn't have any patients and I just visited with people all day. But, shhh. Don't tell Carle.

A happy baby after a nice long nap and a full tummy

We have 3 showings schedules and one is a second showing!!! The dogs are spending the weekend at G&G Plunks to make things easier. It is a little lonely without them. But then again I don't have to worry about Caleb getting into anything when I leave the room. I like to have them sleep with me when Matt is gone at night for protection. They wouldn't hurt anyone but they make a lot of noise. Tonight (technically last night) is Matt's very last shift required for med school. I hate that it is overnight though.

Another day, another showing and no phone calls. We're still waiting to here from the condo people. A Kirby vacuum salesman came by today and asked if they could do a demonstration. We figured, why not? It was actually quite impressive. I'm embarrassed of the amount of dirt and dog hair he got out of the area rug. Especially since I vacuum daily and sometimes twice daily. But we have a little cordless stick vacuum. Of course, we didn't buy one but I can dream about owning one someday. So while the guy was here the dogs were outside getting muddy. We had a strategy where we would carry one in at a time to give baths which failed miserably. Matt was trying to get Caleb through the doorway and Jo snuck past me and got mud all over the freshly cleaned rug. I'm working tomorrow and then the next few weeks gets really crazy. For now I'm off to the grocery store to get food for Jonah. I finally got Jonah laughing in video. He usually stops and just looks at the camera.

Our new chairs. Wrong size but that is what they will look like.

Extreme close up

Best pals

Ugh, go away rain! We got a call this evening asking for a showing tomorrow. After that the dogs decided to go swimming in mud so they had to have baths. Now I'll be scrubbing the kitchen & bathroom floors AGAIN and cleaning the rug in the living room. Jonah has starting grinding his teeth which makes me cringe. We got a call today saying that our table and chairs came in. I sent Matt because Jonah was napping. I instructed him to make sure they gave us the right ones because we routinely get things messed up. Well I should have made sure Matt knew what we were supposed to get first. He thought that counter height was the normal table height. So they actually ordered us the wrong size. They said we could keep the wrong one until ours came in but I thought it was silly to unpack and assemble the table when we would just have to take it apart and pack it up again. So it is sitting in the kitchen. It took two weeks for the order to come in but the guy said he would put a rush on the new one. Grrrr. Today is not a good day. Yesterday was not either because I was sick and had to call into work. I'm thinking I should just go to bed now before anything else happens. I hope tomorrow is a fantastic day. I'm praying that the condo people will call and tell us they are going to allow dogs (no matter how overweight they are) and that we get an offer on the house.

The mess making has already begun.

He has the attitude and now he just needs the flannel to be ready for Seattle.

Jonah is 8 months old today. He tries to pull up on anything he can reach but has absolutely no balance. When he is standing he is very proud of himself. He has become an expert at rolling all over the living room. If you turn your back he is already across the room. His top two front teeth are visible but still barely peeking through his gums. I can't imagine what he'll look like with 4 teeth. There are many moments lately that he looks more like a little boy and less like a baby. I'm working tomorrow so it'll just be Matt and Jonah hanging out. Matt is at a party tonight and I'm home doing homework. Not fair but at least a get to hang out with my main man Jonah.

There have been exciting things going on here. The house next door has been sold. That is good and bad for us. It means that houses are selling but it was listed for over $20,000 less than our house. We've noticed several cars that appear to be looking. We hope they're looking at our house and not the neighbor accross the street. We spent the day working in the yard doing some things that I've wanted to do the entire time we've lived here. The planting area in front of the house had no barrier between the dirt and the sidewalk so dirt and mulch were constantly spilling on to the sidewalk. Matt put in concrete edgers today and they look great! We also added new mulch. We took out a bush next to the door that was trampled by the siding repairment last spring and subsequently died and replaced it with some type of green thing. I also planted a few flowers. Matt worked on putting down a little path from the gate to the porch in the backyard tonight. He worked until he had no daylight left. He has a meeting in Urbana in the morning so it'll just have to be left half done for now. I hope we have showings tomorrow but at the same time I want another day to finish things. I have homework I need to get done so I'll most likely be up all night tonight.
We think we may have found a place to live in Seattle. We had found it a while ago but wanted to keep looking because it is not in the city but only 20 minutes outside. It is a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo that is larger than our house. I called today and they said that since they just remodeled all the units they haven't decided if they are letting dogs in. The lady who I talked to was so nice and said she was trying to convince them. She is going to call me back on Tuesday to let me know. I'm trying not to get my hopes up but I really want to live there! She was telling me all about the condo we would live in. It has a straight view of Pugent Sound with no house or anything and a little yard. Everything about it sounds good for us.

So big!

Another new hat.

Today was such a beautiful day! Jonah and I hung out at the mall for a bit. It was during his nap time so he was in and out. Matt was supposed to get home at 4 and he just called me (at 6) and said he was on his way. Next week his shift is 11p-8am. After that he's done! I wish I was done at the same time but my semester goes into the second week of May. No calls about showings today. It is kind of nice to have a day where I didn't have to worry about getting the house ready. Well I'm off to feed Jonah dinner and then make dinner for Matt and I. Enjoy the pictures. He growing up so fast.

Before the new tooth. Happy as a clam!

After the new tooth. When I put my finger in his mouth I actually found the piece of gum tissue the tooth broke through.

Caleb stole a stuffed pear today. He is so quiet about it. He was just sitting with it in his mouth.

Jonah's stock is taking over the freezer. I'm already nervous about having to ship all that hard work to Seattle.

We had two showings today! Unfortunately we haven't received a phone call saying we got an offer. We've only been on the market for 3 days and I'm already a nervous wreck. It is hard working keeping the house showing clean all the time. Especially with dogs! Jo always runs through the mud outside (Caleb doesn't like any wetness, grass or dirt) and today she peed all over the floor when I was putting her leash on to leave. She's sensitive. Jonah had a bit of a rough morning. I thought he was screaming because he had dumped the contents of his sippy cup all over himself (he doesn't yet understand it is not a bottle) but as I was changing his clothes I noticed he had blood all over his hands. One of his top teeth poked through! I gave him an ice cube wrapped in a towel and some tylenol and he was good for the rest of the day. His poor gums must be so sore. I'm taking some time off tomorrow to go shopping (hooray for gymbucks!) and enjoy the spring weather, finally!

Matt sporting his dream mustache

We didn't hear anything about last nights showing (they must have looked in the closets) but we have another scheduled for tomorrow. It is encouraging that there has been some interest. I hope it continues and we get an offer (any offer really!). Jonah and I went to lunch with Laura and Abby and then we browsed in a store called Checkered Moon. I drooled over all the cute shoes and little baby things. It was probably a good thing that I didn't bring the stroller so Jonah was getting a little heavy to carry and I didn't do too much looking. I could spend hundreds in that store! I didn't take any new pictures of Jonah today. His top teeth are coming in and I expect they'll make an appearance tomorrow. He was not fussy or anything but he was tired and feverish.

Look who was playing with Piggy today. Jo patiently waited next to Jonah until he was done and then grabbed Piggy and ran.

Our house officially went on the market today and we had our first showing! It wasn't a serious buyer though. They already had a house picked out but the real estate agent wanted them to look at some other houses before settling on one house. I think the real reason for the showing was because the real estate agent was the lady who used to live here. We were unprepared for a showing today. The house looked good for pictures but the closets have not been cleaned (actually they were stuffed with items to make the house look cleaner). I hope they didn't look in any closets but I'm sure they did. Anyway, since it was so last minute, we drove around for an hour to get out of the house. I took Jonah and Matt took the dogs because my car is full of boxes. Anyway, back to my homework.

Taylor loved her cupcake!

Jonah had a family filled Easter and was exhausted by our last stop. I'm sure he'll sleep really well tonight. Short post but some cute pictures. Don't you think he just keeps getting better looking?

Friday, April 10, 2009

I had a dream last night that Jonah started crawling and then this evening I found him in the crawling position. I tried to get a picture but wasn't fast enough and the picture is blurry. You can kind of see that he is on his knees. It looks like I probably won't have to work on Easter because we don't have many babies and I requested off before anyone. Woohoo! We didn't get Jonah anything for Easter (he won't remember) but he'll enjoy it next year.

Another day full of packing and cleaning while caring for Jonah. He was especially cuddly today so I didn't get much done. He sucks his thumb and lays his head on my shoulder. So cute! Here is a picture of Jonah and Caleb. Often when Jonah is on the floor playing he has one or two friends sitting next to him. He has a collection of stuffed fruit which Caleb steals. One day I found him with an apple in his mouth and when I took it away noticed he also had a pear. This is the only picture I took today because my camera battery died right afterwards. I'll put it on my list for tomorrow but no promises.

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

Matt's schedule this week is 11 am to 9 pm which makes it really hard to get anything done. Jonah is happy to play on the floor with his toys as long as he can see me. He is doing more and more talking and singing. He loves his dogs and thinks Caleb is so funny. Everything goes in his mouth but no new teeth have appeared. Not much else to report. We've been looking for a place to rent and I've been looking for a job. I don't think I'll have any trouble finding one. I spiked Jonah's hair up after his bath. It is getting thicker everyday.

Daddy and Jonah reading

Monday, April 6, 2009

Jonah enjoyed his sweet potatoes! We met with the real estate agent again today and decided we will officially put the house on the market next Monday. Matt has two days off before then he is trying to do all he can to get things ready. I am scheduled to work on Easter but requested the day off. I really hope I don't have to work. The video is a glimpse of Jonah's temper (something we're seeing more and more) and Caleb trying to make things all better.

Why I've been MIA

Jonah's mean face.

$2! Can you believe it?!

Jonah's new carrier for his plane trips. We're both wearing our pjs in the picture but I really wanted to try it out.

We've been sooooo busy this week trying to ready the house to be sold. Matt started his ER rotation and has been going in from 3pm to midnight. Today he had a morning conference, came home at noon and now has to go back in at 3. He'll be tired tomorrow. Our realtor came by today to take some pictures of the house. We're going with the same guy we used when we bought the house. He painted a pretty bleak picture. He said he hopes he'll be able to get 85% of what we paid for it 3 years ago. I thought he wanted to take pictures to advertise the house but they were just for his reference. I wouldn't have stayed up til 4 am scrubbing the kitchen floor if I would have known that. However, our house looks great! (just don't look in the closets!) We currently don't have a kitchen table because we sent it on the truck thinking we could pick up a new one easily. I'm looking for a round, drop leaf table. Preferably black. Well yesterday Jonah and I went to 6 stores and had no luck. There are a lot of pub/counter height tables out there but that isn't what I want. Furniture Row had one that would have worked but it would take two weeks to come in. So last night I decided I would go ahead and order the one I wanted from Walmart and hope it came in time for the real pictures. But of course in a days time the table is no longer on their website. So it is back to square one. I checked out Goodwill last week. I might stop by again next week. So we took down most of our pictures and personal items (except for pictures of Jonah because who doesn't want to view those?!) and I found that my walls and shelves were lacking. I didn't think about it before and packed up most of my decorative items. I went to the craft store yesterday to get cord to fix the shades (broken by Caleb almost immediately after we got them) and found these cute display boxes. They were originally $12 but marked down to $3. When I checked out I was floored to find out there were only 99 cents! I think when we move and I have more time I'll put some pretty scrapbook paper in them but right now pictures of little Jonah will suffice. That cool mirror in the living room is on loan from Laura and Matt. I love it! I guess we get to enjoy living in the clean house for a couple of months. I work the next couple of days and then I have to clean out closets.
