Jonah performing for the camera

Sunday, March 29, 2009

We have been busy packing and cleaning around here. It is actually beginning to look like we're making progress. Jonah has been so good. As long as he is fed he is happy to play in his jumperoo or with his toys. He even took two naps today. He must be getting ready to grow some more. His new food this week was parsnips. As with everything, he gobbled them down. We'll do sweet potatoes next. I'm going to do homework now.

Jonah is making many new faces lately and new sounds too. It is weird to hear because he is starting to sound less like a baby and more like a toddler. I know we're a ways off but he is just growing up so fast!

Handsome

All packed up and nowhere to go

Turkey anyone?

I don't feel like I'm making any progress in cleaning/packing/preparing the house to be sold. I think things will move fast after we've moved out a few pieces of furniture to make the house look more spacious. I've been thinking the last couple of days that I just have too much stuff. I don't need all this stuff. The problem is that I'm attached to some of it and I also hate to get rid of anything that I spent money on even if I never use or see it. And what we don't take with us won't be easy to just hop in the car, drive 36 hours, and pick up. The dogs got their haircuts today. I forgot to take pictures. They're both a little chubby. You can tell Caleb has been on steroids because of his fat body and little legs. But he's still a handsome boy. Tom is coming on Friday with his trailer to pick up a bunch of stuff to store for us. We'll be sending the freezer with him so we're trying to clear out the freezer section of the fridge because we'll need all of it to store breastmilk. We've had a turkey in the freezer for over a year so we decided to cook it. Matt did all the cooking and carving but I had to put it in containers. I almost vomited. It was a 12 lb turkey. I'm off to bed now.

We met Megan's little Oliver this weekend. He is sooo sweet.

Sitting up and playing like a big boy.

I know Jonah is awake when I hear barnyard animals on the monitor. He was playing with his toy when I walked in his room this morning.

Matt and I went out to dinner with Laura and Matt on Friday. It was my first time leaving Jonah except to go to work. It was so much fun!

Jonah had his second flu shot today and we visited Matt at the hospital while he was studying. I worked all weekend and when I came through the door last night Jonah was so happy to see me. I can't say that I'm adjusting to the idea of moving but I'm really trying. I didn't think that it would be so hard but I also didn't think we would be moving so far away. I'm extremely overwhelmed with everything that has to be done in a very short amount of time plus all the unknowns that we'll deal with in the next year. I don't know yet if or where I'll be working or when I'll be able to finish school or if or where Jonah will go to daycare. He is my biggest concern. I know kids go to daycare all of the time but I'm having a hard time thinking about it. Matt is home now so we're going to go get some boxes.

Here is Jonah in his hat. So cute!

We're moving to Seattle, Washington! We will be moving before this summer! We are in shock.

Today is the day!

I meant to post Wednesday but just realized it is after midnight so today is actually Match Day! After I put Jonah to bed I get as much housework done as I can because I don't really do any when I'm home alone with him during the day. I try to do homework (when he allows) but mostly we just play. Matt just got off the computer so I thought I would post really quick. I'm very excited for today. Matt is very anxious. I feel like all our future plans have been on hold because we don't know when or where we're moving. Enjoy the pictures! I love Jonah in hats. Wait until you see the cute hat he'll wear today. Oh yeah, and Jonah is 7 months old now. Can you believe he is closer to his first birthday than his birth day? Time has just flown by so quickly. Sometimes I still find it hard to believe he is ours to keep.

St. Patricks Day

We headed to the Shoppes at Grand Prairie today to enjoy the nice weather and pick up a new shirt for Matt. (Jonah also got a new hat) Jonah just had a bath and now Matt is trying to explain crawling to him. He had pears today. As with everything else he enjoyed them. He seems to be a bottomless pit. He has never refused to eat or pushed it away. I can't believe that Match Day is almost here!

Matt got the e-mail today saying that he matched. Now we just have to wait until Thursday to find out where. On Saturday we enjoyed the nice weather and spent a couple hours working in the yard. Jonah played in his stroller and loved being outside. I worked yesterday so Matt and Jonah hung out. Matt said they listened to music and Matt sang to him which Jonah seemed to enjoy. I see Jonah tugging on his ear which means it is almost nap time. Enjoy the picture of our beautiful boy. He photographs well in natural light!

Jonah was jumping away until I tried to capture it on film.

He repeatedly stuck his tongue out last night. Hasn't done it all day today.

Jonah and I have just been hanging out, doing homework, and trying to crawl this week. He is starting to move backwards. Of course, he screams the entire time. I wish it was nice enough to go on walks but it has been wet and cold. I had a 1 and 1/2 hour meeting on the phone this morning about my clinicals. Just three semesters after this one and I'll be done (I hope)! I'm excited to get started on clinicals but scared at the same time because I'll be in a new place with people I don't know. I can't get anything set up until after next week though. One week from now we will know what where we'll be living for the next 5 years. Other than that there is not much going on here. Jonah is still loving his food and had apples this week. He gets very mad when his dinner is all gone. Last night he has peas, apples, rice cereal, and oatmeal and he was still mad. He gets over it very quickly though. He is such a great baby and he gets cuter everyday.

We're back!

We arrived home after spending Sunday and Monday in Chicago. Matt took a test today but Jonah and I went shopping at Woodfield. I spent many hours driving because I'm really not a city girl and have no sense of direction. Lets just say that I ran out of money for tolls because I went through the same ones multiple times. I just put Jonah in his crib and thought I would post while I was making sure he was going to sleep. His schedules is a bit off because he spent so much time sleeping in the car. At 1 am on Monday morning I was pushing his stroller up and down the hall to try to get him to sleep because Matt needed to get rest before his test. Speaking of sleep, I think Jonah is out and I'm going to bed.

The weather was beautiful today so we took a family walk. Jonah was asleep by the end and the dogs almost collapsed. I hope the weather continues to be this nice. Only 13 days left!

Someone loved loved loved peas!

I took my midterm this morning and felt a weight lifted off my shoulders. It wasn't like I was worried about it or anything but it was looming. I enjoyed a carefree afternoon and did a little shopping. We went to the craft store for me and then toys r us for Jonah. He didn't get any toys (even though I wanted to buy him so many) but he did get a new toothbrush and bib. He is always a very good boy when we go shopping. I think he has more patience than his daddy when I browse. We're thinking about getting him a pen and mat combo for the living room to keep the dogs away and to give him a good surface to crawl on. I'm keeping an eye out for a good deal. It is nice to have Matt home. Since he came home we've put away the pack and play and now Jonah sleeps in his crib. He has slept all night for 3 nights! I'm not really ready to have him all the way in the other room though. If our room was bigger I would move the crib in with us. I guess I'm just going to have to learn to deal. Jonah will have peas for the first time tonight. One of the upsides to making baby food is that we get to eat the extra produce (the pre-pureed and no breastmilk extras). A couple weeks ago the neighbor across the street put her house up for sale. Then last week the person next to her listed their house. Today I noticed that the house directly next to us is for sale. We could possibly be moving this spring/summer (only 16 days until we find out). It would be bad if they were all still on the market. Especially because two of them are three bedrooms as opposed to our two bedroom. The funny thing is that the house next to us is being sold by the realtor that used to own our house. Not much else is going on around here. Matt has a test in Chicago on Monday so Jonah and I might go up with him on Sunday unless I sign up for call. I think work must be busy because they've called me to work the last two days.
