Guess who is home!

Eating carrots for the first time.

Watching Einsteins in the bumbo.

I made bread today! We haven't tried it yet.

Matt came home this evening. We're so happy to have him back. He brought me cheese because he drove through Wisconsin. Here are a few pictures. Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera to Jonah's first cosmic bowl.

Our little noisemaker!
The noise in the background was the dogs playing with their bones.

Not much to report here. I'm just really ready for Matt to be home. It rained today which means muddy pawprints all over the house. Our house sits lower than the open lot next to us so the backyard become swamplike. I'm looking forward to nice spring days!

I think my son is adorable but even he can't compete with Caleb's cuteness as a puppy. This was Caleb playing with Toby and Sophie when he was a young pup.

A video of Jonah a few weeks ago because I haven't taken any new pictures in the last few days. Enjoy!

6 month peds visit

We visited the pediatrician yesterday for Jonah's 6 month appointment. He weight 17 lbs 9 oz. His weight and length were in the 50th percentile and his head circumference was in the 80th. The doctor even remeasured herself to make sure that was right. He has eczema which doesn't seem to bother him. Jonah got his shots and added a flu shot too. He has been a little challenging today. He has fussed and wanted to be held all day which is not like him at all. This has made it hard to do my homework because he wants to take my pen, turn pages in the book, and type on the keyboard. I'm working tomorrow so Grandma Plunk will babysit with an appearance by Great Grandma. Matt is coming home this weekend and I can't wait!!!! I'm wishing he was here right now so he could watch Jonah while I studied. I have a midterm next week so he'll come home just in time to give me some study time. I don't have any new pictures to post so I found some old ones that I hadn't posted.

A very short video clip of Jonah grunting in the nursery.

We still need to get a cable to get the footage from our video camera but I decided to post somes short video from our digital camera. It takes a long time to upload. So tomorrow I'll post one of Caleb when he was a puppy. It is cuter than any of the baby footage we have. I'm not kidding. He was soooo adorable!

Just posting a couple pictures really quick for Matt. The one from today is him in the bumbo. He'll happily play with his feet for a while but then he's done. The other is when he fell asleep in the jumperoo a few days ago. He was all jumped out! I'm working tomorrow so no post but Jonah will get to spend the whole day with Grandma Piatt.

Not a fan of the bumbo?

How do I get out of this thing?

We're off to the Plunks! I work tomorrow so Jonah will spend the day with Grandma Plunk. Here is a picture of Jonah in the tub today. You can tell that he doesn't miss any meals!

6 months!

He wouldn't look or smile at me, he was smiling at the dogs.

Let's go, Mom!

He's a big boy!

Finger licking good!

Appetizing?

mmm...fresh green beans!

I can't believe Jonah is already 6 months old. It has gone by so fast. We went to the grocery store and picked up green beans which I cooked and pureed into his lunch. He seemed to enjoy it. He always sticks his finger in his mouth when he eats. This makes it difficult to get the food in and makes a big mess but I can't tie his hands down. He has said mama a few times today (just babbling of course). I have a ton of pictures to post.

Jonah spent a good 10 minutes watching Sesame Street this morning. He is making his Daddy proud. Tomorrow (technically today because it is after midnight) Jonah will be 6 months old. I have some fun things planned! I'm pretty proud of myself because I worked out today. Only for 20 minutes because I had laundry to fold and dishes to do during naptime but I have to start somewhere. I got out my 3 lb weights, took the tags off, and held them while I was on the elliptical. I need to build some muscle because Jonah keeps getting heavier. Only 10 days until Matt comes home!!! This month has flown by. The next week will be really busy with work, school and Jonah's 6 month appointment. I'm starting clinicals for school this summer and we're doing some sort of conference call type of thing on the computer to talk about it. Problem is that I don't have a microphone. So, I am going to have to pick one up. Also, Jonah is noisy. I hope there is some type of mute option. The pictures are of Jonah watching Sesame Street this morning.

I just decorated a onesie for Jonah. Not too bad for a first attempt. It is way too small on him so he'll only wore it for the picture. We had a fun day. Jonah played with toys and got to take a bath in the middle of the day due to an explosion. He is loving his cereal. He will start on vegetables this week or next. The pictures do not show his shirt very well but he looks pretty cute.

Fun weekend but it had to end

Matt just headed back to Minnesota. We had a fun weekend just hanging around the house. We rented Ratatouille and made milkshakes. I loaded Matt up on as much food as he thought would fit in the mini-fridge in his room. Now I have to eat everything that he didn't take! We thought that Jonah might not recognize Matt when he came home but he did. When he sees Matt he gets excited and starts kicking his legs and waving his arms and he did that when he walked in the door. I'm a little jealous. When I walk in the door he cries because he wants to nurse. Anyway, I tried to get a family picture but the camera didn't focus really well. I need a new camera (perhaps for an upcoming anniversary ;-)). Jonah is waking up from his nap so I had better go. You can really see his teeth in one of the pictures.

Last Valentine's Day

February 14, 2008
7 weeks

Last Valentine's day I had a doctor's appointment. They couldn't find the baby's heartbeat with the doppler and they thought I was measuring smaller than I should have been. So they sent me for an ultrasound. I'm sure I didn't wait for more than 30 minutes but it felt like hours before I got to see my little baby moving all around and doing great. I didn't call Matt until I knew everything was okay because a) I didn't want him to worry unless he had to and b) I knew I wouldn't be able to hold it together to make the call. I enjoyed every minute of my Valentine's with my two loves!

Matt is coming home tonight! Hooray! Jonah and I have been busy shopping and preparing to feed him lots of homecooked meals and send some back with him. He'll be here in less than 4 hours!

Thursday, February 12, 2009

I think Jonah has more teeth coming through. He wants to chew on everything. We've never been able to get him to chew on teething rings/toys/etc but now he is happily chewing on a little frog teething toy. We'll be seeing Daddy tomorrow!!

Because he is so adorable...

Here are more pictures!

Home safe!

Psalm 59:16
But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.

I am thankful everyday for all the blessings in my life but today I am especially grateful for Him. On my way to Champaign to attend a couple of meetings at the hospital my car slid off the road. How fortunate we were to have escaped injury. Had it been a half mile before with the concrete median and overpass I would most likely be in the hospital. But it wasn't. I am grateful that we were in the left lane and no other people were involved. I am grateful for whoever was kind enough to call the police and for the state trooper who waited with me while the tow truck came and then while they pulled me out. I am grateful that there was minimal damage to the car. But the thing I am most grateful for is His protection of my precious child in the backseat who didn't even wake up.
After we were back on the road I decided not to go into work but rather we spent the rest of the day with family. Jonah and I stopped by to see Grandma and Grandpa Reynolds and Uncle Russel met Jonah for the first time. We visited with Heather, Torey and Taylor. And Heather's husband Matt took a look at my car to make sure it was safe to drive. We're sad that we missed seeing Laura and Abby before they leave for Florida but what a wonderful day it became! Just 2 more days until Matt comes home for the weekend!

And we're off!

Jonah, Caleb, Josephine and I are leaving today and heading east. We'll be spending 5 days at the Plunks because I'm working a few days. I'm loading the car and then we're leaving. It takes half a day to pack everything for me, Jonah, and the dogs.

Look who is sitting up!

Ok, so maybe he is still a bit wobbly and I don't dare walk away but he is able to sit for longer and longer now. The other day Matt and I put him in the front of the shopping cart (with lots of blankets and coats in case he tipped). Once he starts sitting a little bit more independently he has tons of toys we've been waiting to get out. I can't believe how fast he is growing. Before we know it he'll be walking!

Just a quick post to say we love you and miss you!! We're counting down the days until you come home!

Late nights/Early mornings

I wanted to post quickly so that Matt would have a new picture to look at for the morning. Jonah must be going through a growth spurt because he has been sleeping for about 4 hours at night and then wanting to eat every 1 to 2 hours. I am exhausted! I finished my reading while he was sleeping but he woke up before I could do my homework so I finished that while he was eating and now I'm posting with him on my lap. We're off to bed now! Hopefully he'll sleep the rest of the night (ha!). The picture is of him riding around in his sling today while I did laundry and dishes.
